Business Development Manager Job in Kenya

Summary
Our client is a leading Insurance Company with a strong presence across Kenya and offers a wide range of products to cater for retail and SME’s and large corporate clients. Owing to continuous growth in customer numbers, asset base and size of operations, our client is looking to hire a Business Development Manager.

Job Purpose
You will be responsible for driving the business development activities of the company in the assigned region in such a manner as to ensure the development and maintenance of a strong and profitable business portfolio and the promotion of a positive image of the company in the market place.

The Business Development Manager will be expected to work closely with the Manager,
Marketing and Business Development and to ensure that all the initiatives implemented in the respective region are in harmony with the overall marketing and business development plans.

In particular, you will be expected to;

  • Develop a coherent and multifaceted business development strategy for the region that is able to deliver corporate objectives for growth and market penetration and that is in line with the overall marketing and business development strategy of the company.
  • Take charge of brand management and promotional activities in the region and manage external service providers as necessary.
  • Participate in the budgetary process and take responsibility for the achievement of regional budgets for both income and expenditure.
  • Implement the Company’s PR and communication strategy that ensures that both current and potential customers are kept informed of Fidelity’s operations, products and service standards in the Coast Region.
  • Conduct on-going market analysis to identify immediate and future business growth opportunities and communicate this to Head Office so that effective plans for their achievement are put in place.
  • Develop and maintain close relationships with decision makers and buyers of insurance policies in corporate organisations so as to be privy of their current and future needs.
  • Track all advertised expression of interest requests and ensure that these are responded to in a timely manner
  • Support the technical team in developing and bringing suitable, high quality products to market and prepare the market for new product introductions and a smooth roll out of such products.
  • Manage the agency network in the region to ensure achievement of set targets.
  • Monitor quality of service in the market place and highlight issues with the management team as needed.

Requirements

  • Business Degree or equivalent qualification
  • 7 years experience in a similar role, preferably in a financial services, Insurance or closely related industry.
  • Technical insurance qualification such as CII or COP
  • Customer Service or equivalent experience
  • Training in marketing and business development
  • The ability to work with individuals across all levels of management and sectors
  • Strong negotiations and presentation skills
  • A high level of competence in analysing problems and making decisions
