Workshop Manager Job in Kenya

Our Client is in the Transport and logistics Industry

The workshop manager will have the primary focus of providing effective and efficient workshop and fleet services to agreed standards, budgets and timelines.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage the overall Workshop Operations while ensuring achievement of set goals and objectives
  • Ensure workshop operations are streamlined, ensuring high standards and compliance to set norms
  • Monitor and control workshop services to ensure that jobs are completed on time and within the budget
  • Monitor and control workshop activities to ensure trucks are maintained at an acceptable level and condition to minimize down time
  • Ensure maximization of truck utilization
  • Responsible for planning material requirement, and co-coordinating the cost effective procurement of all spare parts from suppliers, controlling inventories of spare parts and other workshop supplies
  • Maintain up to date truck & equipment service records and ensure service schedules are adhered to
  • Ensure all the activities in the workshop are carried out in a safe manner
  • Ensure that the process of scrapping workshop items is in line with the company policy
  • Maintain the asset register for all trucks and equipments, and ensure physical verification of all such assets are carried out in due time intervals to safeguard such assets
  • Manage individual employee performance and effectiveness. Establish and maintain methods of consistently tracking productivity, efficiency and work quality
  • Manage & submit all MIS related to the workshop operations in a timely manner enabling optimal decision making
  • Raise flags appropriately to the Management on the risks & shortcomings of workshop operations for timely resolution of issues enabling efficient operations
  • Responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the workshop and yard areas
  • Responsible for running the workshop with subordinates in accordance to company rules and regulations

Skills required:

  • 3 years’ experience in management position leading highly technical teams is preferred.
  • Experience at delivering complex assemblies in the automotive industry.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to meet demanding schedules.
  • Experience with process development and deployment.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Advanced problem solving experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong initiative and self-motivation to work in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and specifications in written, mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
