Airfreight Manager Job Vacancy

Our client is urgently seeking to recruit the above position. Qualified candidate should be able to do Business Development – Perishables and General Cargo for both Imports and Exports. The person Must be operationally sound with good knowledge of costing to & from various destinations and general Freighting procedure,IATA rules etc.

Job Purpose
Contribute to sustainable and maximized organizational results and performance through leading the Business Development and operational delivery of the Airfreight team and growing the product line. Build a high level of brand awareness and reputation as key contact to our existing & potential clients.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and prepare an action plan and forecast for each targeted key account client, to increase market share and deliver the growth strategy for the airfreight product, taking cognizance of client realities. .
  • Establishing and developing a network with potential and existing customers or key accounts and increase revenue through the identification of opportunities for growing current client business to achieve sales targets and results.
  • Provide visible support in solving client concerns and challenges through facilitating the creation of airfreight forwarding solutions to meet the key account clients on going and changing needs.
  • Ensure high level service delivery through the management of the forwarding life cycle from inception to completion, placing particular emphasis on relevance, efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensuring consistent and competitive pricing agreements in conjunction with calculation of cost structures, administering and maintaining the airfreight schedules whilst taking cognizance of buying and selling trends.
  • Develop and establish relationships with internal teams, sales department, etc and through these partnerships resolve queries on forwarding accounts, thereby ensuring seamless and quality service.
  • Lead the Airfreight team through coaching, developing and motivating subordinates including follow-up of the team and individual performance against targets and objectives aligned with overall company strategy.
  • Pro-actively ensure that all activities in the area of responsibility are compliant with current legal & Company specific regulations, including adhering to ISO procedures and report on monthly KPI’s and event controls.
  • Ensure strict adherence to KCAA and Aviation Security rules compliance by all staff in the department.

Role related Qualifications/Skills;

  • FIATA Diploma or relevant degree
  • Deep understanding of International Airfreight Industry and sales processes.
  • Relevant technical and industry experience
  • At least 10 years relevant experience with at least 5 years managing an Airfreight function.
