Our client, a leading trade association in the financial services sector in Kenya wishes to recruit suitable persons to fill the following positions:

Manager, Statutory & Legal Affairs
Job Ref: MN 6045

Overall Purpose: 
The incumbent will provide legal interpretations to various statutes and give legal opinions on diverse issues.

He/she will be responsible for handling Motor Third Party Insurance Claims that are forwarded to the association for approval or payment.

Job Profile:

  • Provide legal advice and assistance to the Association.
  • Prepare legal opinions and interpretations on all matters relating to statutory and self-regulatory instruments and recommend where necessary appropriate amendments that will spur the growth and development of the respective industry.
  • Review stakeholder complaints, conduct field investigations to collect evidence and determine extent of violations against any statute or self-regulatory instrument in order to provide legal interpretations and recommend regulatory sanctions.
  • Continuously review Bills and new Acts of Parliament to assess the impact on members of the industry.
  • Participate in the development of annual work plans and budgets with a special focus on improving the Association’s legal and regulatory framework in order to ensure the security of the Association’s funds and protect the rights of its members.
  • Conduct legal surveys, compile and analyse data and information to support the amendment to relevant legislation and other statutory instruments.

Person Profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized University. Master’s degree in Law is an added advantage.
  • Member of LSK, ICPS(K) and Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
  • At least seven years’ experience in providing legal services preferably in Commercial Law.
