Industrial Relations officer Job Vacancy

Our client is in the Hospitality industry currently recruiting an Industrial Relations officer

A description of the key responsibilities incumbent in this key post is provided below;

  • Communication with the labour union: Liaise with unions, labor departments and COTU on employee – related matters and building of constructive relationships between all stakeholders. Implementation of regular meetings between management and organized labour while facilitating and maintain a good working relationship with unions and union official
  • Organisations hearing and investigations: Participate actively in organisation hearings i.e. disciplinary and performance management hearings of unionized staff
  • Minimum wage rate management: Conduct surveys and research on workers remuneration, labor negotiations, HR policies and procedures, employee retention schemes and make recommendations for implementation as necessary.
  • Educating company staff: Educate workers regularly on company policies and procedures and workers Collective Agreements
  • Disciplinary process and grievances handling: Coordinate employee disciplinary issues are fairly and consistently implemented and in accordance with workers condition of service across all department
  • Advice to all departments on union related issues: Assist in the development and strategy to promote effective communication between management and employees and Advice, consult, facilitate and sensitise on Industrial Relations structures and procedures for the day-to-day practical aspects of an Industrial Relations function. Consult and advise management and employees with regard to legislation, policies and procedures
  • Disciplinary and grievance & procedures: Manage the implementation and application of disciplinary and grievance procedures and policies
  • Industrial Relations Training: Together with the Training Manager Conduct and develop Industrial Relations related training for relevant personnel
  • Company labour related policies and procedures: Maintain and update all labour related policies and procedures, ensuring the enforcement and adherence of these policies and procedures by advising and monitoring management and staff
  • Collective Bargaining Negotiations: Facilitate and conduct negotiations/consultations at departmental level within the framework of the company’s policy. Monitor, review, and suggest interventions to optimise collective agreements

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in HR
  • A Diploma in law
  • Proven certifications of training in Industrial Relations
  • Minimum of 5 years related experience
