GEC Project Driver Job in Kisumu - Leonard Cheshire Disability

Reporting to: Finance and Administration Officer
Location: Kisumu, Kenya
Duration: 1 year Fixed term

Purpose of the Role
To drive the vehicle for the UK Government-funded Girls’ Education Challenge (GEC) project and
be responsible for its maintenance and upkeep

Duties and Responsibilities

  • To facilitate travel as required
  • To regularly maintain the vehicle in a roadworthy, safe and legal condition.
  • To be responsible for the regular servicing of the vehicle
  • To ensure that the vehicle records such as logbook, maintenance and fuel cards are up to date and are submitted to the line manager monthly.
  • Airport pickup and drop for guests and staff
  • Support the administration of the office whenever not engaged in driving or vehicle maintenance.
  • Collection and delivery of packages, photocopying and filing as required.
  • Other duties as requested by the Finance and Administration Assistant
  • To drive project beneficiaries as may be required.



  • An average standard of education, or equivalent technical / mechanical knowledge and experience.
  • Considerable driving experience, preferably for an NGO
  • A recent Certificate of Good conduct and a PSV certificate (for the van driver)
  • Good communication skills
  • Able to work with minimal supervision
  • Experience of urban and rural driving conditions
  • Welcoming and courteous nature
  • Commitment to the values and ethos of Leonard Cheshire Disability


  • Able to use Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Interested in learning office skills.
  • Knowledge of driving disabled passengers
  • Driving licence with no endorsements.
  • Able to communicate in English
