Head of Finance - Kenya Tourism Board Jobs

Our client, Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) is a State Corporation mandated to market Kenya’s diverse
tourism products that offer both locals and visitors enriched tourism experiences. KTB seeks to recruit for the following positions:

To effectively and efficiently manage all financial resources of KTB in order to achieve its goals and objectives. Be a proactive advisor of KTB on all financial management areas giving direction, control and coordination of financial matters and ensuring the preparation of timely budgets and reports.

This includes financial and managerial accounting, financial reporting, tax returns and payroll accounting. The position reports to the Chief Executive Officer.

Roles

  • Develop and implement KTB’s Finance strategy, policies, mission and vision.
  • Develop and review KTB’s financial internal control systems.
  • Prepare and manage the KTB budget.
  • Participate in the negotiation of KTB performance contracting process.
  • Ensure timely and efficient implementation of Finance strategy and Annual Work Plan (AWP) and ensure that departmental performance targets are set and achieved.
  • Ensure that finance is effectively used to support the business objectives of KTB to increase productivity and increase results in order to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction and ensure seamless inter-departmental linkages.
  • Identify process improvements that reduce cost, improve quality and allow for the more efficient usage of organizational resources.
  • Ensure full implementation of the Quality Management System within the Finance department.
  • Co-ordinate, supervise, control and evaluate the financial and accounting activities within the department.
  • Provide financial and investment advice to the Management and Board of Directors.
  • Coordinate and compile funding proposals and business cases for approval.
  • Ensure implementation of internal audit recommendations.
  • Coordinate the auditing of KTB’s financial statements by auditors, respond to audit queries and ensure implementation of recommendations.
  • Verify, approve and sign LPOs.
  • Mentor, coach and provide leadership to the Finance team.

Job Requirements
The ideal candidate must possess the following:

  • Masters in Business Administration (Finance, Accounting, Banking or related field)
  • Bachelors of Commerce degree (Finance, Accounting, Banking or related field)
  • Certified Public Accountant (K); or ACCA
  • 8 years experience with at least 5 years in senior management
  • Prior experience in finance / accounting at a large/medium organization/busy environment.
  • Excellent financial skills and fully conversant with local International Accounting Standards
  • Must be able to demonstrate skills in leadership and performance management.
