IT and Ops Manager Job in Kenya

Provides direction for a specific discipline within IT and works closely with the other managers in support of project planning and execution. Interprets and administers policies, processes, and
procedures that may impact lines of business or other area within IT and may recommend changes to policies & procedures as warranted to address business changes and/or to ensure regulatory compliance. Interacts frequently with internal/external stakeholder at various levels to address business needs. Participates and presents at meetings with internal stakeholders.

Primarily interacts daily with staff or peers within a similar or related function to share information and solve problems. Interaction typically concerns resolution of operational and scheduling issues.

Roles

  • Perform supervisory functions, including but not limited to, making employment decisions regarding hiring, promoting, demoting and terminating, conducting performance appraisals and coaching and developing staff.
  • Manage performance concerns and disciplinary action in accordance with established procedures.
  • Works with business partners and/or IT leadership to understand and anticipate business and IT project needs of a reporting unit.
  • Contributes to the development of strategies, operating plan, performance measures/targets for a reporting unit and lead the day to day delivery of its programs, services and activities.
  • Administer budget and ensure cost efficiencies.
  • Provides input to policy level direction regarding standards. Implements and ensures adherence to procedures, methods, standards and controls to foster operational efficiency, monitor compliance, mitigate risks, and achieve unit results.
  • Manage financial and human capital resource allocation to support short -term projects and programs.
  • Manage and implements innovative services, business solutions, and programs, and collaborates with others on integrated solutions and initiatives across the enterprise.
  • Develop working relationships with LOB leaders and other internal/external stakeholder to support business and operational goals.
  • Develop, mentor, and manage professionals and other staff including selection, training, coaching, performance management and all other people practices.
  • Maintains appropriate professional designations and up-to-date knowledge of current information technology techniques and tools.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in, Computer Science or other technical field or equivalent work experience
  • 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in Information Technology with working knowledge of managing a specific IT discipline, e.g. Help Desk or other IT support functions.
  • 3+ years of experience in all aspects of a specific IT discipline, e.g. Help Desk, with demonstrated mastery of operations and/or systems technology and functional/user areas operations.
  • 1+ years management/supervisory experience in specific IT functional area discipline, e.g. applications development, during which more than one of the following occurred
  • Leadership and experience managing multidiscipline, high-performance work teams
  • Experience in project management and execution of multiple or large projects.
  • Experience working with customers to develop solutions to complex business problems.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with internal/external stakeholders and articulate customer needs.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Financial Services industry experience
  • Project management experience; use of IT project management methodologies.
  • Experience with budget management
  • Experience with product development and management
  • Manage a team of direct staff
