Study Nurse Job at KEMRI

Reports to: Program Manager
Location: Migori County

Duration: 1 year renewable

The Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) and University of California San Francisco (UCSF) are collaborating in a three-year implementation science study to decrease the burden of preterm births and associated deaths.

The main activities will focus on improving data use, health care quality improvements and capacity strengthening around intrapartum and postnatal care. The project is conducted in Migori County. The study seeks to fill the following position:


  • Diploma in Nursing (KRCHN) (Degree in nursing is an added advantage)
  • At least 3 years of research work experience in both clinical and medical research
  • Good report writing skills is mandatory.
  • Very good knowledge of MS Office package is required.
  • Training in Good Clinical Research Practices is an added advantage.


  • Plan, coordinate and supervise activities of the Community Health Volunteers (CHVs)
  • Collection of daily consenting data from the CHVs
  • Ensure relevant tools are available to the CHVs
  • Monitor and evaluate the consenting process and address any matters arising accordingly
  • Ensure accurate records and reports and maintain their safety as required
  • Link up with other program leaders in empowering and motivating PTBI affiliated CHVs on a regular basis through trainings
  • Address on-site challenges raised by CHVs
  • Ensure research participants are followed up for study end points
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor from time time

  • Keen and ability to work well within a team and independently with minimal supervision and be able to develop on the job
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to determine priorities and meet multiple deadlines
  • Flexibility, ability to adapt to a changing and challenging environment
